So Many Onions

Onions are a member of the allium family, which includes onions, scallions (green onions), shallots, leeks, chives, and garlic. Onions are one of the most common food staples in households throughout the world. This is at least partly because they last a long time after they’re harvested. When stored in a cool, dry place, onions can last for months. They are used to provide a foundation of flavor to every dish imaginable – from soups, to stews, stir fries, casseroles, and everything in-between.
